Why do Communities decide to become Dementia Friendly?

Dementia is a general term for loss of memory, language, problem-solving, and other thinking abilities to the extent that it interferes with a person’s daily life. Some people with dementia cannot control their emotions, and their personalities may change.

Alzheimer’s is the most common cause of dementia. It often starts ten or more years before symptoms appear. After the age of 65, the number of people with Alzheimer’s disease doubles every five years.

Dementia knows no social, economic, or ethnic boundaries.
