About the Event
"I have been much more aware of the person's environment when undertaking an assessment. I look for anything that can impact on the individual's ability to engage. Televisions are a big issue, many times I have asked if a television could be turned down, now I ask if they can be turned off. Overall I think the training made me more aware of the surrounding influences and allowing adequate time. Training was very good. Everyone should have an opportunity to experience it."
LOOKING TO HOST THE TOUR? CONTACT US The Tour enables caregivers to experience for themselves the physical and mental challenges those with dementia face, and use the experience to provide better person-centered care. And here’s another special feature… proceeds from the Virtual Dementia Tour are used to fulfill the mission of Second Wind Dreams to make dreams come true for elders who live in long-term care.
The truth is that when dementia strikes, it strikes the whole community, not just the individual. The Virtual Dementia Tour was also developed to provide a way for members of the community to have a glimpse into the world of dementia… and then develop their own recommendations for their business, family, or anywhere that dementia is experienced. Appropriate participants include:
- Police officers
- Fire fighters
- Emergency first responders
- Local businesses
- Community groups
- Houses of worship
When COVID restrictions permit, we will be scheduling a Virtual Dementia Tour in our region. If you are interested in experiencing the Virtual Dementia Tour, please register. We will then contact you when a Virtual Dementia Tour is available in Panama City, FL
