About the Event

Our 2nd Tuesday Parkinson's Support Group has been meeting every month since April 2017 (except 10/10/18 when hurricane Michael hit Panama City).  Our meetings are free, open to the public, and refreshments are provided.

In June, we will be discussing "The Importance of Movement and Exercise for people living with Parkinson's disease."  Many of the people who attend our 2nd Tuesday Parkinson's Support Group belong to our local Rock Steady Boxing affiliate - 850 Strong Rock Steady Boxing in Panama City, FL.  Our Fighters understand the importance of movement and exercise for PD and have been missing their non-contact boxing-style fitness training.   They were fighting back against Parkinson's disease until COVID 19 forced us to close in March.  Our Fighters want to return to the gym as soon as possible, but many still do not feel safe enough to leave the safety of their homes and risk becoming infected by the virus.

Every month our 2nd Tuesday Parkinson's Support Group has a guest speaker who provides Parkinson's-specific information about resources, research, exercise programs, medications, and more. During COVID 19, we have been using Zoom to stay connected.  Register to Zoom with us 6/9/20.  Beginning June 2020, limited space will be available to meet in person with social distancing.  If you are interested in joining us in person or would like more information about how to Zoom, please email Karen: info@dementiafamilypathways.org.

If you want more information about 850 Strong Rock Steady Boxing, email: 850strong@rsbaffiliate.com.

During our Parkinson's Support Group meeting, people who are living with Parkinson's share common concerns and challenges.  They discuss their life experiences, we contemplate solutions, and solve problems together.  During our meetings, we use the Parkinson's Care Program that provide strategies that improve function for motor and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease.

Call Senior Helpers: 850.215.1793 for a free Parkinson's Care Program DVD.

Join us this month to experience the difference a support group can make in your life.
