Dementia is NOT a Mental Health Disorder

Question: Is dementia a mental illness?

(health conditions involving changes in emotion, thinking or behavior - or a combination of these)

Answer:  No, it is brain damage.

(such as Neurological disorders / diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system / brain, spinal cord, cranial nerves, peripheral nerves, nerve roots, autonomic nervous system, neuromuscular junction, and muscles)

Our brain is our control center; it controls everything

we do, say and think.

When there is brain is sick, the person living with the disease  has problems with actions, remembering, speaking,

understanding and learning new skills.

Dementia is not a mental illness but a disease of the brain that causes brain damage, memory loss and trouble communicating.

"Debbie Selsavage was introduced to dementia when she became a caregiver for her husband, Albert. Like many in her situation, she found it almost impossible to find information, support, and the resources to deal with her difficult and exhausting task.

She believed there has to be a better way."
